PCB system-oriented functional test |
Functional test is an essential task to verify the correct behaviour of a newly produced pcb according to its specifications. In practice, system-oriented tests, which assure the correct function in a given system environment sometimes are even more appropriate. For both cases, the test environment developed by IBAL provides cost-effective, easy to use and reliable solutions. |

Test concept objectives and benefits

The test usually will be performed using manually or automatically operated test adapters. The DUT will be contacted by spring-loaded contacts, which are directly connected to specific test-PCB’s attached on-top or below (bottom) of the DUT. Other test facilities, like optical sensors for LED test or others may be easily integrated. The test-PCB’s each contains a microcontroller which provides serial links for performing all required testing tasks. In particular, hard real-time tasks may be accomplished by the microcontrollers. Thus, merely a simple serial connection (RS232, RS-485 or Ethernet) and the power supply are sufficient to run the test. This greatly reduces wiring harness compared to standard test concepts. For system-oriented tests, further interface-, sensor- or actuator components may be added to the test equipment. The test system is controlled by a software framework written in C#. This gives great flexibility to link the test system with databases, other systems due to the large support of the .net environment. The IBAL test frame work is a modular approach which can be easily extended with new tests according to the needs of the DUT. Please contact us for further details or request consulting ! |
